About the Author

Great Flow, Little Content

I am used to teaching myself how to use programs, and I know that it takes not only a good guide, but a lot of practice and implementation. I've spent time and money to be certified for using Photoshop, and even 3D modeling programs like Bryce, Maya and ZBrush. I have taught myself much, but it is by far much more effective to have a teacher.
Well, I had a teacher teaching out of this book and was exercising myself as well--and this book simply does not guide a user to proficiency with this program. Throughout the book, the websites made are not modern, are not appealing, and are not something I hope anyone would pay for. If you take the time to experiment and do the extra exercises in the book, you'll have enough knowledge to begin *practicing* with the program effectively. Simply going through the book is not enough to truly get a feel for what the software is capable of, or what is needed to complete a worthwhile website.
Now, the wonderful things about this book is that it is *incredibly* thorough in its explanations. For the exercises that you do, you will get half-page pictures of each on-screen step. At few points did I feel lost. The book guides you very clearly through the exercises, and *shows* you where everything you need is.
However, by the time you're at page 300, you still won't have a grasp of the program that makes you competitive or professionally payable. This book is a good introduction to exercising the tools, but you will require ample additional practice, experimentation and instruction to be able to publish and maintain a website.
If you buy, buy it cheap. Really cheap.

Easy Way to Create Websites!

I had rented this book for a class I had in Web Design. When I saw the low cost on Amazon I just had to buy it. A great instructional tool for those who use Expression Web to create websites. The code is written for you which makes creating websites so easy, but you can use the code view to tweak the web page to your liking. I would recommend this product for anyone who doesn't want to write code to create a website.

Book got here on time and have been using it all semester. I could be teaching my self out of the book just a good shelly cashman book.
